An Empty Hook on the Roadbox

This evening, Spamalot lost some treasured members of the Spamily. As loyal readers of this blog might know, Team Spamalot Stage Management have a pair of mascots that have been traveling the tour with us: Kitty and Baby. This evening, Kitty and Baby retired from the tour.

Ken lead a simple ceremony for those who knew them best. He read the following tribute:

The Legend of Kitty and Baby
In September of 2006, the male ensemble of Monty Python's SPAMALOT dressed in this room at the Canon Theatre. Upon opening the cabinet, a wondrous discovery was was made. The inspiring "Kitty and Baby" plaque became a hallmark of hallmark of the dressing room and a beloved part of SPAMALOT.
When it was time to pack up the show, Kitty and Baby came along.
(It should be noted that "Kitty" is the name of the little girl and "Baby" is the kitten.)
Over the next 2 years Kitty and Baby have traveled from coast to coast in North America, visiting over 50 cities in the US and Canada.
At each stop, they were appropriately dressed either based on their locale (for example as Elvis in Memphis, as Divine in Baltimore) or topical events (an Anna Nicole "Baby" was a fitting tribute to her passing). The Stage Managers' office became their showplace and all would eagerly await their new costumes.
These "costumes" were created by SPAMALOT stage manager Francesca Russell and are enclosed.
On October 5, 2008, Kitty and Baby are hereby returned to their ancestral home so that they may bring joy and inspiration to future generations.
