VFMHRW - Nashville

VFMHRW (View From My Hotel Room Window) - Nashville

Yes, that's right - that's snow out there. A whole bunch of the Spamily made pronouncements like: "I'm sending my winter coat and sweaters home after Hershey." They were gravely disappointed when it began to ice and then snow here in Nashville last night. The expected high today is 31 degrees (that's 15 degrees colder than the forecast for New York today). Whatever, I suspect that some good barbecue and collards will make it feel a lot warmer.

Opening night went relatively well last night. There were some weather related travel dramas, but we had everybody covered. Julie got stuck in a snowstorm in Chicago and Patrick's flight from JFK was delayed big-time, but he made it by curtain time with the help of a cab ride worthy of NASCAR.

The Tennessee Performing Arts Center is a modern venue (in the style of the Wharton Center) with plenty of room for the show. Everyone gets along a lot better when they're not fighting over space.

Even the elevator at TPAC is spacious - the doors opened and there was most of the company inside!

Last night we welcomed yet another new company member. Cara Cooper (late of Legally Blonde and the charming wife of Graham Bowen, our dance captain) joined us to replace Sabra (who will leave us at the end of next week). That's Cara and Graham in the middle of the photo above - he looks like he's being taken by aliens and she's the blonde in denim. Cara's starting rehearsals this afternoon.

Valentines Day came a little early to the Spamily last night. Jaki sent us a bunch of soup mix as a valentine. The flash reflected in the packaging, but if you look closely you can make out that the soup is "Cock Flavoured". I love the British. Paula and Jeff just love "cock flavoured" soup.

I'm off to find some barbecue -

JV
